Capacity Building on ‘Universe in a Bowl of Rice’ Process and International Networking
Date: Wednesday, November 20
The meeting focused on deepening collaboration around food as a path to spiritual and intellectual well-being (spiritual health),
by applying the framework of Inner Development Goals (IDGs). The process aims to foster intrapersonal transformation first—supporting individuals in cultivating inner awareness—then extends outward to interpersonal dimensions, promoting empathy and healthy relationships, and finally reaching the transpersonal level, where people recognize themselves as an integral part of the natural world.
The goal is to shift personal habits and social attitudes toward a more sustainable food culture—
moving away from destructive paradigms that treat the earth like an enemy (e.g., excessive chemical use, corporate monopolies, and food waste), and instead cultivating a mindset of peace, cooperation, and ecological harmony.
This aligns with the vision of “Conscious Food Systems,” an initiative by the Conscious Food Systems Alliance (CoFSA).
The approach emphasizes inner awareness, compassion, co-leadership, mindfulness, and indigenous wisdom as drivers of systemic change.
